Exile Isle

By William Overgard

The Luna-Taks ambush Wilykat and Wilykit out for a walk with Scooper in a forest. Scooper flies off to the Tower of Omens to communicate to Lion-O, Lynx-O and Panthro the Wilytwins are in trouble. The Luna-Taks are quickly captured and sentenced to Exile Isle for eternity.

After they arrive, the group meets Captain Cracker and his robot parrot, Polly. The Luna-Taks want to get off the planet, but Cracker informs them that he doesn't have a radio and no ship would come within miles of the planet because it's off limits. But Luna has a radio, which inspires the space pirate into creating an escape plan.

The Luna-Taks observe as Cracker fakes a distress call to confuse a space tanker crew into coming closer to Exile Isle. Cracker then uses a makeshift device that creates a dust cloud large enough to cover the planet. The tanker's crew is too late in detecting Exile Isle and abandons the ship. Cracker fends off the upset Luna-Taks over making the ship crash. He explains that the crash knocked Exile Isle out of orbit and the ship's engines can propel them toward Third Earth.

Monitoring space communications, the Thundercats pick up the distress signal of the Zlam Queen's crew. Lion-O decides to send Snarfer, who is returning from Thundera, to confirm the tanker crew's report about Exile Isle. However the snarf's ship is overtaken by the planet's speed and he crashes. The Thundercats are then told by the tanker's crew that the ship is full of highly explosive Zlam gas. Lion-O decides to go to Exile Isle alone, even without the Sword of Omens, to save Snarfer and stop the ship-propelled planet before it reaches Third Earth.

The young lord takes the Thunder Claw to Exile Isle. He encounters, and defeats, the Luna- Taks one by one before he confronts Cracker about shutting down the engines. The cyborg pirate, instead, sets a mechanical palm tree after Lion-O and Snarfer. When Lion-O is unable to stop the propellers on the tree, he mentally calls for the Sword of Omens. As the mystical weapon races to help Lion-O and Snarfer, the Thundercats decide to help their friends.

On Exile Isle, the Sword of Omens easliy takes out the robotic tree. Lion-O realizes that the sword is a part of him just as Cracker locks himself in the tanker's cockpit. Lion-O and Snarfer use the dust cloud-making device to clog the ship's engines. The Thundercats arrive to see that Lion-O successfully completed his mission. Exile Isle is returned to its orbit with the Luna-Taks and Cracker still on it. However, some time later, the Luna-Taks turn Cracker's hut into a makeshift ship and escape, leaving Cracker and Polly behind.
