Lion-O, Cheetara, Pumyra and Snarf take the Thundertank to help their friends at the Tower of Omens. However, they realize Lynx-O, Wilykat and Wilykit may be prisoners in the Lunattacker, which races away over a ridge nearby. Lion-O uses the Sword of Omens to immobilize the Lunattacker while the Thundercats in the tank catch up to it. When upon the vehicle, Lion-O commands the Eye of Thundera to open the enemy machine in a way that none of the occupants are hurt. Tug Mug and Red Eye are told to leave and Lynx-O, Wilykat and Kit are freed.

At Sky Tomb, Vultureman angrily points out to Luna that had she sent all the Luna-Taks to take the Tower of Omens, they would have succeeded in retaining their prisoners. Amok throws the Mutant out of the Luna-Tak stronghold, prompting Vultureman to strike out on his own to defeat the Thundercats.

Later, the Thundercats from the Tower of Omens gain more information on Thundera and share with the Thundercats Cats' Lair. They find out that "New" Thundera is under the influence of the Moons of Plun-Darr.

The first moon of Plun-Darr, where Tug Mug originates, has a massive gravitational pull and controls the region on Thundera newly dubbed the Mountains of the Moon. The second moon of Plun-Darr, the home of Chilla, controls the Caverns of Cold. The moon of Plun-Darr Red Eye comes from now affects the Jungles of Darkness. Tygra and Panthro decide to design night vision goggles and anti-gravity and thermal suits to function in the new regions of Thundera.

One night, Vultureman spies on the Thundercats at Cats' Lair. Sometime later, S-S-Slithe becomes suspicious of Vultureman's interest in getting the Rat Star repaired.

Meanwhile, Lion-O assigns his friends to groups for the mission: Lynx-O, Pumyra and Wilykat will be stationed at the Tower of Omens while Wilykit and Ben-Gali will man the Cats' Lair. The rest of the Thundercats begin their trip to Thundera.

Vultureman takes off in the Rat Star, leaving a bewildered Jackalman and Monkian at Castle Plun-Darr. While the Mutant plots his course to confront the Thundercats in space, S-S-Slithe comes out of his hiding place to demand Vultureman to explain his actions. Vultureman fires on the Thundercats in the Feliner, which electro-freezes it and the Thundercats.

At the Lair, Wilykit and Ben-Gali rush to help their friends. On board the Feliner, Snarf and Snarfer, who were not affected by the vary cannon blasts, try to figure out a way to release their friends. Snarf desperately forces the Sword of Omens into Lion-O's hand. The contact between lord and weapon enables Lion-O to call on the Eye of Thundera to revitalize his friends and recharge the ship.

Ben-Gali and Wilykit attack the Rat Star, but are rebuffed. The Feliner arrives so that Lion-O can command the Sword of Omens to shoot the Rat Star out of the sky. Vultureman and S-S-Slithe survive the Mutant ship's crash landing on Hook Mountain. Wilykit and Ben-Gali celebrate their friends' recovery, watching as the Feliner climbs out of the atmosphere of Third Earth and onward to Thundera.

However, Lynx-O reports to the Thundercats on the Feliner that Mumm-Ra has found the Sword of Plun-Darr on Thundera.

"Thermal Thunderwear!" - Snarfer jokes, after Lynx-O points out that the Thundercats need to create thermal suits for use in the Caverns of Cold.

"Never mind that aerial push bike! The Feliner is heading right for us!" - S-S-Slithe on the Thunder Claw.
